The primary difference between epi-on and epi-off CXL procedures is whether or not the outermost layer of the cornea, called the epithelium, is removed prior to the corneal treatment process.<\/p><p>During CXL, your surgeon use vitamin eye drops (riboflavin) followed by exposure to UV-A light, which activates the riboflavin and leads to the formation of new cross-links between the collagen fibers in the <a href=\"https:\/\/midwestvision.com\/service\/cornea\/\">cornea<\/a>.
